I attended my first Sukkot last night. My CEO invited all the managers and directors to his home to celebrate this Jewish tradition. For those of you who had to google sukkah like I did, I will give you all my shiksa definition. Sukkot is a Jewish festival that occurs in the Fall. During this festival, a sukkah, which is like a tent, is set up. My CEO made yummy Jewish food, which I believe is part of the celebration. I much enjoyed hearing the stories of his travels about the world. He grew up in New York City, and he shared his experiences there and contrasted it with life in Utah.
I’ve always had a deep admiration and fascination with the Jewish faith. I love how it’s not just a religion but a culture as well. Regardless of your native language, if you are Jewish, you typically become fluent in Hebrew. I have tried to speak Hebrew, but I ended up sounded completely stupid.
If you are Jewish, Happy Sukkot. I’m not sure if that’s the appropriate festival greeting, but you are welcome to correct me.
