I really want to move someplace sassier. I should mention that for the sake of this post sassier means warm weather all year round and, hopefully, close to an ocean. I long for perpetual summer, which is something you don’t get where I live nowadays. Unfortunately, the sassy scotch drinker doesn’t want to move. However, I am so sick of winter.
This isn’t just a spur of the moment decision. I’ve been doing research over the years, weighing out the options of various locations. So far I’ve narrowed the list of potential areas to the following based upon weather and economic growth:
- Santa Barbara, CA
- San Diego, CA
- Austin, TX
- Most of Florida
- Raleigh, NC
- Honolulu, HI
Because I don’t prefer to live in a dessert climate, I’ve left off Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah.
I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts about where/where not to live and why.
Out of all the places you’ve listed, I’d go for Santa Barbara. It’s beautiful all year round and so central to many things. You could take off to L.A. or S.F. for a whimsical weekend, you could just stay home and enjoy the weather… Ah, it’s beautiful. That’s where I’d go.
I think Santa Barbara sounds wonderful. They even have a college I could teach at.
